He has broad litigation experience in criminal work at all levels and also in civil law.

Career
Ian was a former Royal Naval Officer working within Defence Intelligence prior to qualifying as a Barrister of England and Wales in 2001. He completed pupillage and remains a door tenant at Chavasse Court Chambers, Liverpool. Over a ten year period he developed a large practice specialising in financial matters and children proceedings. He dealt with all manner of applications from custody matters through to significant child injury enquiries. Ian also developed an interest in Hague Convention and relocation cases. He has significant experience working with adults who lack legal capacity.
He has broad criminal litigation experience including work at Appellate level.
Whilst practicing in the United Kingdom, Ian developed a civil practice dealing with road traffic accidents, occupier’s liability and also tortious claims, including those for historical abuse.
Alongside his career at the Bar, Ian lectured in family law, criminal law and law of defamation at Liverpool John Moores University. He also taught Conduct and Ethics on the Bar Vocational Course.
